It’s October and that means the Yankees are in the playoffs. For the past couple of years, this time of year has meant holding my breath and hoping the boys can pull it off. It’s a nerve wracking time.
The baseball gods granted me some respite from the stress today in the form of gnats. I had to crack a smile when watching major league players trying to swat the bugs away while batting, pitching, and fielding. Some even applied bug spray.
It ended up being all I would smile about. My team lost the game, which had been tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 11th.

They were actually midges. They’re common near Lake Erie — they look like enormous mosquitos, but they don’t bite. They just get in your eyes and ears and mouth…. Protein. They go great with muskrat!!
The video of those bugs on the pitcher was gross!
Go Sox!
